Albon voelt zich vrijer bij Williams dan bij Red Bull Racing

Alexander Albon was ook dit jaar weer de kopman van het team van Williams. De Thaise coureur kende een goed seizoen waarin hij meerdere sterke races reed. Sinds zijn vertrek bij Red Bull Racing lijkt hij veel beter te presteren en hij geeft toe dat hij zich nu beter voelt dan vroeger.

Albon debuteerde in 2019 in de Formule 1 bij het toenmalige team van Toro Rosso. Na een halfjaar kreeg hij al promotie naar het topteam van Red Bull Racing. Ook in 2020 reed de Thaise Brit voor het Oostenrijkse topteam, maar dat ging niet helemaal naar wens. Hij stond onder druk en in 2021 stond hij dan ook aan de zijlijn, vorig jaar maakte hij de overstap naar Williams en sindsdien lijkt Albon zich beter te voelen.

De Thaise coureur geeft dit ook eerlijk toe. Albon is heel eerlijk over zijn verleden bij Red Bull en in de High Performance Podcast geeft hij toe dat hij zich nu vrijer voelt: "Ja. Het komt er uiteindelijk op neer dat ik nu een heel goed team om mij heen heb. Het team is nu een team met een hart en ze beschermen wat belangrijk is voor mij. Het andere is puur de ongelooflijke hoeveelheid kennis die je hier krijgt. Het klink gek en arrogant om dit te zeggen, maar ik denk dat ik tot op zekere hoogte meer de kans krijg om de auto zelf te ontwikkelen."
