Oud-manager mist Schumacher: "Daar heb ik veel spijt van"

Later deze maand is het precies tien jaar geleden dat Michael Schumacher zwaargewond raakte bij een ernstig ski-ongeval. Over zijn toestand is vrij weinig bekend, slechts een handjevol mensen weet hoe het met Schumacher gaat. Zijn voormalig manager Willi Weber weet niet hoe het met de Duitser gaat en dat doet hem veel pijn.

Weber speelde een belangrijke rol in de loopbaan van zevenvoudig wereldkampioen Schumacher. Hij stond jarenlang aan zijn zijde. Weber was daarnaast ook de manager van een aantal andere coureurs en hij speelde dus een belangrijke rol in de paddock. Toen Schumacher zijn ongeluk kreeg, bezocht Weber hem echter niet in het ziekenhuis. Daar heeft hij echter heel erg veel spijt van.

Spijt

Bijna tien jaar na het ongeval betuigt Weber zijn spijt. Hij geeft aan dat hij geen hoop heeft dat hij Schumacher ooit weer gaat zien. In een interview met EXPRESS.de spreekt Weber zich uit: "Ik heb er natuurlijk heel erg veel spijt van en ik geef mijzelf ook de schuld. Ik had Michael in het ziekenhuis moeten bezoeken. Het raakt mij ongelooflijk hard, zoals je je wel kunt voorstellen. Dat geldt ook voor het feit dat zijn vrouw Corinna geen contact meer toestond."

Einde

Weber mist zijn voormalig pupil nog elke dag. Hij geeft echter zelf aan dat hij de situatie een plekje moet geven, maar dat dit best wel lastig is: "Op een gegeven moment moest ik mij losmaken van Michael. Zelfs drie of vier jaar later bleven mensen mij herkennen en vroegen ze hoe het ging met Michael. Toen stopte ik met het uitleggen van de zaak en ik vroeg mij af waarom niet vroeg hoe het met mij gaat. Het was voor mij duidelijk, dit was het einde hiervan. Ik moet dit uit mijn hoofd zetten."

Tja als je niet op bezoek gaat in t ziekenhuis dan moet je niet verbaasd zijn dat de familie je de deur wijst.

  De familie heeft iedereen de deur gewezen.
  Toen hij een paar dagen na het ongeluk jarig was mochten enkel familie leden hem in het ziekenhuis bezoeken. Hij lag zoals bekend is bijna een half jaar in coma.

  @Pietje. Todt kwam er toch nog wel ? Maar ja als ze daar binnen de familie het idee krijgen dat je alleen maar op bezoek komt, om vervolgens een mooi verhaal voor de pers te kunnen vertellen, dan snap ik dat op zich wel.
  Ze hebben daar besloten dat alles allemaal binnenshuis in besloten kring moet blijven. Daar kun je een mening over hebben, of niet... en mee eens zijn, of niet... maar goed.. met deze meneer kun je hoe dan ook geen sympathie hebben.

Dit is van 9 jaar geleden?
Sws ben ik van mening dat ze mij in zo een situatie na een tijd in hopeloze toestand er besloten wordt de stekker eruit te trekken.
Oké we weten niet hoe hij erbij zit, lijkt mij dat wanneer er nog communicatie mogelijk is ikzelf dat liet weten aan de wereld. Dit lijkt hier niet het geval.

  Wat ik er van heb begrepen is dat Michael wel bewustzijn heeft en wellicht met ogen kan knipperen maar qua motoriek zwaar gehandicapt is en niet zelfstandig kan lopen bijvoorbeeld. Dus tja...

  Soms denk ik echt arme Michael....
  Maar we weten het niet. Ook al was ik nooit fan fan hem.
