Domenicali leeft mee met Schumacher: "Gun je je ergste vijand niet"

Het is volgende week precies tien jaar geleden dat Michael Schumacher zwaar gewond raakte bij een ski-ongeval. Het is niet bekend hoe het nu gaat met de Duitse Formule 1-legende, zijn familie houdt zijn gezondheid immers privé. Stefano Domenicali leeft mee met de familie en hij geeft ze zoveel mogelijk steun.

Domenicali is vandaag de dag de CEO van de Formule 1, maar in het verleden was hij werkzaam voor het team van Ferrari. Daar heeft hij ook eventjes samengewerkt met Schumacher en hij kent de Duitser en zijn familie dan ook goed. Toen Schumacher tien jaar geleden zijn ongeluk kreeg, voelde dat voor Domenicali als een shock. Hij heeft nog altijd contact met de familie van de zevenvoudig wereldkampioen.

Domenicali respecteert de privacy van Schumacher en hij wil er niet al te veel over kwijt. In gesprek met zijn landgenoten van het Rai-programma 'La Politica nel Pallone' bespreekt Domenicali het ongeval van Schumacher: "Het voelt echt als de dag van gisteren. Dit soort gebeurtenissen veranderen in één klap je hele leven. Uit respect voor hem en zijn familie moeten we hem vooral steunen nu deze lastige periode nog wel eventjes zal blijven duren. Wat er tussen mij en de familie gebeurt is privé, maar al tien jaar op deze manier leven gun je zelfs je ergste vijand niet."
