Nederlander Niels Koolen stapt over naar Indy NXT

Aankomend jaar is er weer een Nederlandse coureur actief in de hoogste opstapklasse in de Verenigde Staten. In de zogenaamde Indy NXT zal er voor het team van HMD Motorsports weer een landgenoot aan de start gaan verschijnen in de persoon van Niels Koolen.

Eerder deze week werd bekend dat Koolen een contract heeft getekend bij A14 Management, het managementbureau van Fernando Alonso. Het was al de verwachting dat Koolen zou gaan rijden in de Verenigde Staten. Hij heeft al veel tests uitgevoerd in de States en deze stap is dan ook geen verrassing. De zoon van Dakar-coureur Kees Koolen was dit jaar nog actief in het FRECA-kampioenschap. In de Indy NXT gaat hij het opnemen tegen onder meer Jamie Chadwick, Josh Pierson en Myles Rowe.
