Domenicali zet Italiaanse Grands Prix onder druk

In Italië worden er volgend seizoen twee Grands Prix verreden. De races in Monza en Imola zijn zeer populair bij de fans, maar ze zijn wel flink verouderd. De contractonderhandelingen zijn in volle gang, maar volgens Stefano Domenicali moet er wel snel iets gaan gebeuren.

De races in Monza en Imola beschikken allebei over een contract tot en met 2025. Beide evenementen zijn zeer populair onder de fans van de Formule 1, ook de coureurs zijn dol op beide banen. Toch lopen de contracten over twee jaar af en zijn de onderhandelingen in volle gang. Veel mensen hopen dat de races op de kalender blijven staan, maar vooralsnog verloopt het allemaal nog een beetje moeizaam.

Formule 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali geeft iets meer duidelijkheid over de races in zijn thuisland. Domenicali is open over de situatie bij zin landgenoten van Rai: "We zijn inderdaad nog aan het onderhandelen met de circuits van Monza en Imola over een mogelijke contractverlenging. Ik heb goed contact met de Italiaanse autosportfederatie, maar de renovaties hadden in Monza direct na de Grand Prix moeten beginnen. Het is december en ze zijn nog niet begonnen. Het moet nu in de nabije toekomst gebeuren. De druk die ik hier opleg is constructief, maar interne bureaucratieën mogen projecten niet tegenhouden."

  Dankjewel. Vuurwerk doen we niet aan. We hebben hier een vuurwerkshow aan de IJssel in Zutphen, honderd meter van mijn appartement. Ik bin zuunug.
