In 2026 gaan er compleet nieuwe technische reglementen gelden in de Formule 1. Hoe deze regels er uit gaan zien, is nog niet helemaal duidelijk. Wat wel duidelijk is, is dat er gebruik zal worden gemaakt van actieve aerodynamica. Volgens Adrian Newey is dat geen probleem.

Momenteel wordt er in de Formule 1 al gewerkt met actieve aerodynamica. Dat gaat vanzelfsprekend over de DRS, maar meer actieve aero-onderdelen zijn er op dit moment niet. Vanaf 2026 is dit mogelijk wel het geval, want er wordt gewerkt aan een systeem dat gelijkwaardig is aan het huidige DRS-idee. Hoe dat er precies uit gaat zien, is momenteel nog volledig onduidelijk. De teams wachten ondertussen af.

Gebrek aan energie

Bij Red Bull Racing lijkt niemand zich momenteel zorgen te maken. Topontwerper Adrian Newey ziet weinig problemen, zo stelt hij bij Motorsport.com: "Ik maak mij hier geen zorgen om. Een toename in actieve aero is vooral bedoeld om het gebrek aan energie van een krachtbron te compenseren. De actieve aero wordt essentieel om het gebrek aan energie van de Power Unit recht te rekken. Ik denk niet dat dit iets slechts is. Proberen om een grotere aerodynamische efficiëntie van de bolide te vinden is een goed doel."

Jaren '60

Newey weet niet waarom mensen de actieve aerodynamica als iets slechts zouden zien. De Brit ziet het elke dag op de weg al voorbij komen: "Het is tenslotte onderdeel geworden van straatauto's. Er zijn heel erg veel auto's met spoilers die op en neer gaan op de achterklep, enzovoort. Dus waarom zou je het dan niet in de racerij hebben? Actieve aero kreeg pas een slechte naam toen de vleugels er in de jaren '60 afvielen. Die tijd hebben we allang achter ons gelaten."

Ik denk dat actieve aero op voor en achtervleugel een extra rijderskill kan toevoegen als je als rijder de graden kan aanpassen zoals L2 en R2 (of voor de niet playstation mensen, een soort duimgashendel)

T zou maar een klein extra knopje (of knopjes als je bijv voor en achtervleugel splitst) zijn aan de onderkant achterzijde van het handvat van het stuur. Bewust indrukken is platte vleugel, niet indrukken is full downforce... alles er tussen is skill en vertrouwen in de auto.

Voorbeeld tunnel Monaco:
Verstappen drukt de knop(pen) volledig in dus minimame downforce
Perez drukt de knop(pen) 75% in dus een kwart meer downforce
Sargeant drukt de knop(pen) niet in dus volledige downforce nodig.

Verschil in zo'n big balls bocht kan dan ineens een halve seconde opleveren.

Probleem met DRS eerder met bochten zoals bocht 1 Silverstone was dat DRS altijd of volledig open of volledig dicht was, dus geen speelruimte voor de coureur om het haalbaar te maken met de auto die ze hadden, dus of de auto kon t, of niet.

Je neemt een FORD Mustang en bouwt die om met een RBPT motor en vervangt de vering en doet wat aan de vleugels. En testen maar. Het hoef niet eens onder de vlag (budget cap) van RBR maar van FORD.

Newey heeft de bull volledig onder controle, en heeft zijn actieve aero schetsen al lang klaar liggen om Max aan zijn 6e, 7e, en 8e titel te helpen voor zijn contract afloopt in 2028.
