Ecclestone vindt Red Bull betere plek voor Schumacher

Mick Schumacher rijdt ook dit jaar niet in de Formule 1. De Duitser blijft aan als reservecoureur van Mercedes en hij gaat voor Alpine rijden in het WEC. Bernie Ecclestone heeft medelijden met Schumacher, hij stelt dat de Duitse coureur beter voor een ander Formule 1-team had moeten kiezen.

Schumacher belandde in 2021 in de Formule 1 bij het team van Haas. In zijn eerste seizoen ontving hij veel complimenten en men was benieuwd hoe hij zou presteren in een competitieve auto. In 2022 werd hij echter volledig naar huis gereden door zijn nieuwe teamgenoot Kevin Magnussen. Schumacher reed daarnaast veel schade en dat kostte hem zijn zitje bij Haas. Hij werd reservecoureur bij Mercedes, maar een Formule 1-zitje voor 2024 zat er niet in.

Schumacher blijft actief voor Mercedes en hij gaat racen voor Alpine in de Hypercar-klasse van het WEC. Voormalig Formule 1-baas Bernie Ecclestone heeft medelijden met Schumacher. De Brit stelt dat hij beter voor een ander team had kunnen kiezen. Bij de Süddeutsche Zeitung spreekt Ecclestone zich uit: "Hij zou in betere handen zijn bij een team zoals Red Bull met hun juniorenprogramma. Daar helpen ze jonge coureurs bij het behalen van zeges. Voor hem heeft deze keuze veel dingen verpest."

    Mick zhou zo bij RBR op de heftruck kunnen gaan zitten met het uitladen van het materiaal tijdens een F1 weekend....

    Chrisje Horner stond er niet onwelwillend tegenover.
    Zijn oudere broer Christian, die het bij RBR voor het zeggen heeft, zag het destijds echter niet zitten. Ik denk dat hij dat goed ingeschat heeft.

    Niet doen, mick hem gewoon definitief de F1 wereld uit. Die gast teert alleen op zijn achternaam, niet op eigen kunde en prestaties 😵‍💫

    Mick is met veel hulp van de familie Todt en de Ferrari opleiding naar F1, met maar 1 reden:
    We willen weer een Schumacher in F1. Daarbij is Mick geholpen doordat de FIA soms iets minder streng keek naar zijn auto in F3 en F2 als bij andere.
    Ik heb zelf diverse malen gewerkt op dezelfde paddock als waar Mick reed, er erg dichtbij gestaan.
    Destijds al waren er niet alleen geruchten maar ook wel wat aanwijzingen in data dat dat zo was.
    Een poos geleden is dat ook gebeurd met Bruno Senna. Echter schat ik die eigenlijk hoger in dan Mick, als is het niet heel veel hoger. Beide zijn gewoon matige/middelmatige F1 rijders geweest.

    Mick heeft best wel wat talent, maar in F1 is hij vrij snel door het ijs gezakt.
    Laten we ook toegeven dat de Haas een moeilijke auto is. Maar hij had gewoon meer moeten laten zien
    dan wat hij heeft gedaan. Het is niet voor niets dat Ferrari is gestopt met hun steun. Die kennen de data en hebben gezien waar Mick stond.

    Dat hij bij Mercedes nog wat werk mag verrichten is fijn voor Mick, zo wordt hij behoed van totaal gezichtsverlies in F1 en houden ze voor hem de deur naar F1 nog met een kiertje open.
    De vraag is alleen: wie wilt Mick nog een kans geven?

    Eigenlijk heeft hij alleen nog wat PR waarde, maar heeft zelf ook geen mega sponsorbedragen die hij mee kan nemen. Met zijn talent zal hij het niet gaan redden, het is gebleken dat hij geen mega talent is.

    Red Bull zal zeker niet vallen voor Mick. Ze hadden hem wellicht wel beter kunnen voorbereiden voor zijn debuut dan via Ferrari. Maar denk dat het al te laat is voor Mick...
