Hamilton verwacht veel van Wolff in jacht op prestaties

Het team van Mercedes wil dit jaar gaan toeslaan in de Formule 1. De Duitse renstal kende vorig jaar een lastig seizoen in de sport en ze azen op sportieve revanche. Volgens Lewis Hamilton is de rol van teambaas Toto Wolff heel erg belangrijk in dit proces.

Mercedes werd vorig jaar tweede in het constructeurskampioenschap, maar daar waren ze niet tevreden mee. Ze wisten geen enkele race te winnen en de achterstand op Red Bull Racing was simpelweg te groot. Coureurs Lewis Hamilton en George Russell presteerden daarnaast zeer wisselvallig. De wagen was niet op alle circuits even goed en dat zorgde voor de nodige ergernis bij Mercedes.

Hamilton blijft hoopvol voor het komende seizoen. De Britse zevenvoudig wereldkampioen stelt wel dat de rol van teambaas Toto Wolff zeer belangrijk is. In gesprek met GP Racing spreekt Hamilton zich uit over deze situatie: "Uiteindelijk moet Toto als leider meer op zijn mensen vertrouwen en ervoor zorgen dat ze niet achteruitgaan. Hoe moet je dat doen? Dat is natuurlijk niet iets wat eenvoudig is, omdat mensen uiteindelijk kunnen bezwijken onder de druk. Dus de rol die hij altijd speelt, is ervoor zorgen dat iedereen binnen ons team altijd gemotiveerd blijft tijdens het seizoen."

    Toto is inderdaad zeer belangrijk. Met de vertrouwelijke info die hij van zijn bedgenoot krijgt, kan hij maar zo Mercedes weer een voorsprong geven.

      Maar dat deed Wolff al nog voor Suzie ook maar iets van doen had bij de fia.

      KIjk even 1 van de VTs terug in (was het) Soanje 2022, waar plots een vloer op de Mercedes zat die al voldeed aan de regels die races later actief werden.
      Mercedes had er al een vleugel op gedesigned en gebouwd. EN ze hebben er die VT veel data mee verzameld.
      Toto wist al in een stadium te melden waar Red Bull nog van niets wist dat ze de cap hzouden hebben overtreden.
      Tot slot wist Wolff info te spuien, vertrouwelijke info, die niet naar buiten had mogen komen. Dat was tijdens een gezamenlijke baasjes meeting.

      Ik geloof niet dat Suzie de bron is. Dat moet een andere zijn binnen de fia. En ook nog eens iemand die hoog in de boom zit. Dat onderzoek rond heer en vrouw Wolff was niets meer dan een afleiding van de werkelijke issue naar mijn mening.

      En ik snap dat je een grap maakte trouwens.

      Dat is helemaal niet zeker, RBH. Bij de eerste twee gevallen was Suzie niet in beeld en bij de laatste was die advocaat al lang weg bij de fia.
