AlphaTauri blij met belangrijke verhuizing

Het is geen geheim dat de teams van Red Bull Racing en AlphaTauri vanaf dit jaar nauwer met elkaar gaan samenwerken. Beide renstallen hebben dezelfde eigenaar en AlphaTauri verhuist een deel van de werkzaamheden naar Milton Keynes. Volgens Peter Bayer was dat broodnodig.

AlphaTauri ondergaat dit jaar een flinke metamorfose. De Italiaanse renstal krijgt een nieuwe naam, een aantal nieuwe hoofdsponsors, een nieuwe teambaas en ze gaan dus ook beter samenwerken met grote broer Red Bull Racing. Ze blijven gevestigd in het Italiaanse Faenza, maar ze verhuizen ook een deel van het team naar Milton Keynes. In deze Britse plaats bevindt zich ook het hoofdkantoor van Red Bull Racing.

Belangrijk

AlphaTauri heeft al een onderkomen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, in Bicester. Volgens CEO Peter Bayer is dat onderkomen echter flink verouderd. Bij Autosport spreekt Bayer zich uit: "Het Milton Keynes Performance Centre is nodig omdat de faciliteiten in Bicester te klein worden. We hebben geen parkeermogelijkheden meer en we hebben geen kantine. We moeten een aantrekkelijke werkgever zijn. Dat begint bij het team, maar ook bij de identiteit. Maar we hebben ook de faciliteiten en de kansen nodig voor loopbanen. Daarom is dit zo belangrijk."

Huurcontract

Volgens Bayer was het ook lastiger om door te gaan in Bicester. De AlphaTauri CEO stelt dat het dan ook logisch was om te verhuizen: "Het huurcontract in Bicester liep daarnaast ook af, dus we moesten wel een move maken. Het is natuurlijk een voordeel dat we dichter bij Red Bull en hun campus kunnen zijn. Voor ons is dat makkelijker om dingen met de windtunnel en de simulator te doen. Dat maakt het allemaal wat makkelijker voor de engineers."

Ik dacht dat ze volledig in Faenza in Italië zaten? Deze move is in ieder geval de eerste stap van de complete verhuizing van het team naar Milton Keynes. Eens kijken of de Italianen net zo enthousiast zijn

  Ze zaten al heel lang in Bicester en Faenza.
  Het team zal niet helemaal naar Milton Keynes verhuizen.
  Het blijft een Italiaans team met het grootste gedeelte van
  het personeel in Faenza. In MK komt nu de R&D afdeling.

  CEO Peter Bayer zei daar ook nog iets over:
  Den Standort Faenza werden wir aber definitiv beibehalten.
  Die kommerzielle Zusammenarbeit werden wir definitiv intensiv gestalten, das Kern-Unternehmen bleibt in Faenza.
  
  Alles, was Produktion anbelangt, Human Resources, Legal, Facility-Management und IT, das bleibt alles da. In den großen Zügen kann man die strategische Ausrichtung so zusammenfassen: Annäherung, verstärken der Synergien und Effizienzen aber gleichzeitig Eigenständigkeit mit eigener Identität.
