'Ferrari presenteert dubbele contractverlenging tijdens launch nieuwe auto'

Het is geen geheim dat Ferrari-coureurs Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz allebei azen op een nieuw contract. De huidige contracten van beide coureurs lopen eind dit jaar af. Mogelijk worden de contractverlengingen bekend gemaakt tijdens de launch van de nieuwe auto volgende maand.

Sainz en Leclerc hebben zich regelmatig uitgesproken over de toekomst. Beide coureurs willen bij Ferrari blijven rijden, maar ze willen wel snel duidelijkheid ontvangen van Ferrari. In de afgelopen maanden gingen er veel geruchten rond over de nieuwe contracten. Zo werd er gespeculeerd over de contractduur en het salaris. Ferrari heeft officieel nog niets gecommuniceerd, maar het ligt in de lijn van de verwachtingen dat ze inderdaad de contracten gaan verlengen.

Volgens de doorgaans goed ingevoerde Italiaanse sportkrant La Gazzetta dello Sport is een contractverlenging voor Sainz en Leclerc dichtbij. De Italiaanse krant meldt dat de aankondiging van de nieuwe contracten kan samenvallen met de presentatie van de 2024-bolide van Ferrari. Het team trekt het doek van de nieuwe auto op 13 februari en de kans is dus aanwezig dat ze dan nog veel meer nieuws bekend gaan maken. Hoe de contracten er uit gaan zien, is nog niet duidelijk. Leclerc lijkt in ieder geval een sterk verbeterd contract te krijgen.
