Herbert hoort verhalen over situatie Schumacher: "Weet niet of het klopt"

Eind vorige maand was het precies tien jaar geleden dat Michael Schumacher zwaargewond raakte bij een ski-ongeval. Hoe het nu gaat met de Duitse Formule 1-legende, is niet duidelijk. Ook Johnny Herbert weet dat niet, maar hij hoort wel een aantal dingen. Herbert weet alleen niet of dat klopt.

Schumacher raakte tien jaar geleden zwaargewond bij een ski-ongeval. Hij skiede kortstondig naast de piste, waar hij viel en een steen raakte met zijn hoofd. Hij droeg wel een helm, maar hij raakte wel zwaargewond. Schumacher lag in een coma, maar daar ontwaakte hij weer uit. Zijn familie heeft sindsdien zeer weinig naar buiten gebracht over zijn gezondheid, ze doen er alles aan om dat privé te houden.

Eettafel

Oud-coureur Johnny Herbert mist Schumacher. De Brit was de teamgenoot van Schumacher bij Benetton en in gesprek met BettingSites spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik hoor soms wat dingen uit de tweede hand. Ik hoor van mensen binnen de Formule 1 dat hij aan de eettafel zit, maar ik weet niet of dat klopt. Ik kan alleen tussen de regels lezen. We hebben niet zoveel gehoord van de familie en dat is begrijpelijk. Michael en zijn familie wilden altijd al alles zo privé mogelijk houden."

Dezelfde situatie

Herbert wil verder dan ook niet speculeren over de situatie van Schumacher. De Britse oud-coureur gaat ervan uit dat Schumachers situatie niet veel is veranderd: "Ik denk dat omdat we nog niet zoveel van de familie hebben gehoord, hij zich nog steeds in dezelfde situatie bevindt als vlak na het ongeval. Ik denk dat de familie hoopt dat de wetenschap iets vindt dat de Michael kan terugbrengen die we allemaal kennen."

Ik hoor ook verhalen en weet niet of het klopt...
Laat de familie met rust. Waarom zou een bekendheid minder recht hebben om te bepalen wat zij wel of niet willen delen?

  De familie heeft het recht om niets te zeggen over de situatie. Maar ze hebben niet het recht om mensen die iets opgevangen hebben te laten zwijgen.

Dus als Schumacher toch weer uit coma bij kennis kwam, misschien is dan deze hele mediastilte wel gewoon zijn eigen besluit geweest.
Voor de geïnteresseerden dus een nieuw dingetje om over te speculeren.

  Maar ik hoop echt dat Michael in staat is om aan zijn keukentafel te zitten en een normaal gesprek te voeren. Maar heb er zelf niet zoveel vertrouwen in.

Herbert? Het zou zo verfrissend zijn als dit soort spraakwatervallen stoppen met uitspreken wat zij denken en het houden bij, het maakt niet uit wat ik denk, enige correcte is dat we het niet weten en dat dat de keuze is van de familie Schumacher. Punt.

Tuurlijk heb ik ook zo mijn bedenkingen hoe het met Michael zou zijn.

Maar enige feit is? Het blijft speculeren, want we weten niets
