McLaren waarschuwt concurrentie: "Gaan nog een stap zetten"

Het team van McLaren kende vorig jaar een zeer sterke tweede seizoenshelft. De Britse renstal zette enorme stappen en ze vochten zelfs mee om de podiumplekken en de pole positions. Teambaas Andrea Stella heeft een goed gevoel voor het komende seizoen, hij stelt dat zijn team nog stappen kan gaan zetten.

McLaren begon zeer teleurstellend aan het afgelopen seizoen in de Formule 1. Ze reden rond in het achterveld, maar ze hielden vertrouwen in het proces. Een aantal updatepakketten zorgden ervoor dat de prestaties steeds beter werden. In de tweede seizoenshelft ging het steeds beter en groeide het team zelfs uit tot een uitdager van Max Verstappen. Oscar Piastri en Lando Norris presteerden goed en dat geeft vertrouwen.

Ook McLaren-teambaas Andrea Stella heeft veel vertrouwen in de toekomst. De Italiaanse teambaas wil ook aankomend seizoen gaan presteren en in gesprek met Auto, Motor und Sport onthult hij een aantal positieve signalen: "We bevinden ons nog niet op het punt dat het ontwikkelingsproces afzwakt. Ik denk dat we aankomend seizoen nog een stap gaan zien. Misschien zal die stap niet zo groot seizoen als in de afgelopen tweede seizoenshelft. Deze regels gaven ons verschillende ontwikkelingsrichtingen. Voor 2022 zeiden mensen dat de auto's er hetzelfde uit zouden zien, dat was verkeerd."

Laat ze maar flinke stappen zetten en Max uitdagen dit jaar. Het wordt wel weer tijd dat we mooie gevechten voor de winst gaan zien!

  Als Red Bull met de RB20 een volledig seizoen aan updates en het belangrijke doorontwikkelwerk van de winterstop in één klap doorvoert, is dat voor de concurrentie iets om voor op hun hoede te zijn. 100 procent garantie op succes is het nooit, maar het moet heel raar lopen als Red Bull in 2024 niet wéér een winnende formatie is.
  De Bull is de benchmarked en de andere kopiërende teams hollen achter aan.

  Wordt wel weer tijd dat Mclaren on merit wint.
  
  Droomshow: Mclaren met de top auto... zowel mercedes als RB daar niet ver vandaan... Hamilton en Verstappen die alles uit de auto halen om Mclaren onderdruk te zetten en Piastri die opstaat tegen Norris om er een 4 man battle voor het WK te maken.

  Dat komt in de buurt van mijn ideale seizoen @Tyla. McLaren, Ferrari en Red Bull gelijkwaardig en Mercedes daarachter. Ook AM zou vooraan mogen rijden maar dat zie ik ze nog niet doen.

  Ferrari maakt wat mij betreft alleen een kans als die de beste auto hebben. Kijk maar naar begin 2022. Toen hadden ze een paar races gemiddeld de beste auto.
  
  Snelrondje geeft aan wat ik graag zou zien. Geen Mercedes zolang Wolff daar zit. Die maakt het altijd smerig en dan gaat Horner terug smerig doen. Ik zit daar niet op te wachten.
  Ferrari de beste auto. McLaren een klein tandje minder en dan AM en Red Bull daar net een tandje achter. Piastri zie ik nog niet de stap maken naar Norris. Daarvoor was het te veel wisselvallig in Kwalificatie nog en het gat in race snelheid veel te groot. Mij lijkt Piastri wel ruim goed genoeg komend jaar om in de mix te komen. Net als Sainz zeg maar.

  Ik verwacht eigenlijk dat alle teams een stap maken. En dat resulteert in een zelfde pikorde, mogelijk met kleine wijzigingen.

  Hmm is RBR vorig jaar na Spa gestopt met updates?
  McLaren heeft een stapje voorwaarts gemaakt maar dit seizoen twee stappen terug....
  Ik vrees ervoor dat RBR een nog groter verschil maakt dan vorig jaar ten opzichte van de concurrentie.
  Ala Schumacher en Ferrari destijds iedereen voor de gek hield tijdens de winter tests en genadeloos toe sloeg....
  McLaren, Mercedes en Ferrari lopen dit jaar ook weer achter de feiten aan en nee ik heb heb geen glazen bol... ;)

Een ouderwetse strijd tussen Ferrari en Mclaren zou ik heel mooi vinden, met daarachter Mercedes en Red-Bull.
