Grosjean wenst 'goede vriend' Komatsu veel succes

Het team van Haas verlengde eerder deze week het contract van Günther Steiner niet. De Italiaan mocht vertrekken en Ayao Komatsu werd aangesteld als de nieuwe teambaas. Romain Grosjean werkte jarenlang enorm close samen met Komatsu en hij wenst hem veel succes.

Komatsu werkt al vele jaren in de Formule 1. Hij is dan ook al geruime tijd werkzaam voor het team van Haas en hij zat altijd aan de zijde van Steiner tijdens de races. Voordat de Japanner een leidinggevende functie kreeg bij Haas, was hij lang de race-engineer van Romain Grosjean. Ze werkten eerder ook samen bij het team van Lotus. Daarna stapten ze allebei over naar Haas.

Als er iemand is die Komatsu goed kent, is dat dus wel Grosjean. De Fransman racet tegenwoordig in de Verenigde Staten en hij reageert dan ook op de aanstelling van Komatsu. Grosjean wordt geciteerd door RaceFans: "Ten eerste, ik ben heel erg blij voor Komatsu. Hij is een heel erg goede vriend van mij. Ik heb tijdens al mijn Formule 1-races op een bepaalde manier met hem samengewerkt. Zijn kinderen zijn net zou oud als die van mij, we zijn dus goede vrienden. Het is een enorme uitdaging voor hem en ik leef met hem mee."
