Boze ondernemers Las Vegas eisen compensatie van F1

Eind vorig jaar keerde de Formule 1 terug in Las Vegas. Er werd gereden op een spectaculair circuit dwars door het centrum van de stad. Niet iedereen was hier even blij, de lokale bevolking ondervond zeer veel hinder van het evenement. Lokale ondernemers willen nu dat hun misgelopen inkomsten worden vergoed.

De Grand Prix van Las Vegas werd met veel bombarie aangekondigd door de Formule 1. Het moest een enorm event vol glitter en glamour worden, maar het liep niet zoals gehoopt. De loopbruggen voor de mensen zonder een ticket waren voorzien van doeken zodat niemand iets kon zien van de baan, een putdeksel zorgde voor veel schade bij Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen was enorm kritisch en fans moesten de tribunes verlaten vlak voor de uitgestelde tweede vrije training.

De lokale ondernemers merken nu dat ze veel inkomsten zijn misgelopen in 2023 vergeleken met een jaar eerder. Bij het lokale zakenblad LVSportsBiz.com spreekt een winkeleigenaar zich kwaad uit: "Wij hebben de Formule 1 niet nodig. Die sport heeft ons nodig. We willen compensatie zien voor de inkomsten die wij zijn misgelopen door alles wat de Formule 1 hier heeft gedaan. We vinden dat de county hier ook schuld aan heeft. Ze gebruiken hiervoor belastinggeld. De Formule 1 beloofde dat ze ons niet zouden hinderen. In werkelijkheid hebben ze alles op de kop gezet en zijn ze daarna weggevlucht."

Lijkt me dat ze bij de lokale bestuurders moeten aankloppen. Aangenomen dat er heldere afspraken zijn gemaakt, en ook namens de bevolking en ondernemers is besloten de race te houden.

Dat waag ik te betwijfelen... er lijken nog geen winnaars (tenminste geen groep die heel blij is)

Je moet ook geen "circuit" in een stad willen hebben. Daar zijn steden niet voor! In de meeste steden geldt een snelheidsbeperking 😁

Die voorstelling van zaken maakte Ecclestone tot miljardair liet menig Europees circuit in vertwijfeling achter. Dus zoals we zien, er is niets nieuw onder de zon.
