AlphaTauri kiest bewust voor opvallend rijdersduo

Het team van AlphaTauri gold jarenlang als de opleidingsploeg van Red Bull Racing. Aankomend seizoen ziet alles er echter anders uit en valt het niet meer te zeggen dat er jonge talenten onder contract staan bij het team. Volgens Peter Bayer is dit broodnodig voor het team.

Aankomend seizoen rijden Daniel Ricciardo en Yuki Tsunoda voor de Italiaanse renstal. Beide coureurs sloten 2023 ook af bij AlphaTauri, ze kregen dus allebei een nieuw contract. Ricciardo is zeer ervaren en hij geldt dan ook niet meer als een jong talent, men denkt dat hij wel nog kans maakt op het Red Bull-zitje van Sergio Perez voor 2025. Tsunoda rijdt op zijn beurt ook al flink wat jaren in de Formule 1, maar hij is nog wel zeer jong.

Complexiteit

AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer staat volledig achter dit rijdersduo. Bayer stelt dat dit de gewenste samenstelling is en dat dit ook volledig past bij de aanstaande rebranding van het team. Bij Motorsport.com legt Bayer het uit: "Franz Tost zei altijd dat een jonge coureur drie jaar nodig heeft om klaar te zijn voor de Formule 1, dat omschrijf ik volledig. Je ziet dat terug bij alle complexiteit die de sport op dit moment vereist, de hoeveelheid informatie die ze mee moeten nemen, verwerken en terugkoppelen aan ons."

Nieuw gebied

Bayer ziet dat ook een groot verschil tussen de werkwijze van Tsunoda en Ricciardo. De CEO denkt dat dit ook terug te zien is in de rijderskeuze: "Het is dus een ervaren coureur die een jonge coureur onder zijn vleugels neemt. Zelfs die jongen coureur moet worden voorbereid, dus dat is ook een nieuw gebied voor ons voor volgend jaar. We willen een deel van het geld dat we nu verdienen gebruiken om ervoor te zorgen dat we jonge coureurs zo goed mogelijk kunnen voorbereiden."

Als Yuki dit jaar de lachende Aussie eraf rijdt hoop ik dat Red Bull eindelijk weer een promotie binnen het team aandurft. Al valt die op zijn gezicht bij RB heeft dat Visa Cashapp blablaTauri team toch nog wel zijn doel een keer bereikt.

  Juist, wat de filosofie daar is mag een raadsel wezen. Dan hadden ze in plaats van Ric, Lawsen er in moeten zetten. Er rommelt daar wat met toezeggingen of iets dergelijks. Logisch is het niet!
