'Nieuwe titelsponsors Racing Bulls lijken duidelijk te zijn'

Het is geen geheim meer dat AlphaTauri aankomend seizoen onder een andere naam op de grid staat. Het lijkt er stevig op dat het team gaat luisteren naar de naam Racing Bulls. Nu lijkt het er ook op dat de eerder genoemde titelsponsors inderdaad onderdeel worden van de teamnaam.

Eind vorig jaar meldde het op sponsordeals gefocuste medium Decalspotters al dat AlphaTauri twee nieuwe titelsponsors zou gaan krijgen. Het ging hier om de grote bedrijven Visa en CashApp. Eerder meldde AlphaTauri zelf al dat ze in gesprek waren met twee grote Amerikaanse sponsoren. Nu lijkt er ook daadwerkelijk op dat deze twee bedrijven zich gaan verbinden aan de zusterrenstal van Red Bull Racing.

Recent heeft het Red Bull-concern namelijk het internetdomein VisaCashAppRB.com geregistreerd. Wie op deze link drukt, komt op een internetpagina terecht die nog nergens naar door linkt. Het lijkt er stevig op dat dit inderdaad de teamnaam gaat worden, want het domein RacingBulls.com linkt door naar de eerdergenoemde site, maar dan met het label 'team launch'. Ook deze pagina is nog wit, maar de URL geeft wel aan dat er dus een teamlaunch-pagina is. Wanneer het team met meer nieuws komt, is nog niet bekend.

CashApp doet me altijd nog denken aan Megan Thee Stallion, die rapster met ferme bilpartij en dito bovenkant waar ik na haar aanvaring met Martin Brundle nog wel eens een koe naar vernoemt heb zo'n 1,5 jaar geleden.

  En als je de foto's erbij pakt van die Amerikaanse brabbelaarster dan ziet ze er behoorlijk tochtig uit. Van andere foto's ben ik bang dat de rest van de stal zure melk krijgt van schrik.

qua afkorting vind ik de nieuwe naam niet handig gekozen. Torro Rosso en Alpha Tauri kon je afkorten zonder conflict met RedBull.

'Racing Bulls', inspiratieloos en gewoon dom. Ook vanuit het opzicht om de teams meer uit elkaar te houden in organisatie-opzicht is niet minder handig.

Laurent Mekies legde vorig jaar zijn werkzaamheden bij Ferrari neer om de overstap te maken naar AlphaTauri, waar hij Franz Tost is opgevolgd als teambaas.
In zijn kielzog heeft de 46-jarige Fransman namelijk Marco Matassa meegenomen, zo meldt Corriere dello Sport.

Mekies werkte in het verleden al bij AlphaTauri - dat toen nog Toro Rosso heette - als chief engineer. Ook Matassa heeft een verleden bij de Italiaanse formatie.
Zo was hij onder andere race-engineer van Daniil Kvyat en later Carlos Sainz.
In 2018 vertrok hij naar Ferrari om daar race-engineer van Kimi Raikkonen te worden.
De laatste jaren was Matassa bij Ferrari verantwoordelijk voor de talentontwikkeling.
Na een dienstverband van zes seizoenen keert hij nu dus terug naar Faenza.
Bij Ferrari is Jock Clear aangesteld als tijdelijke vervanger.

Matassa was ontzettend goed in alles wat hij deed bij Toro Rosso.
Hopelijk gaat hij met Yuki samenwerken.

Misschien kennen jullie hem nog wel met zijn lange zwarte krullen.
Hij is onlangs vader geworden en getrouwd met Tabatha Valls die destijds
