Vader Sainz ziet Audi-avontuur zoon wel zitten

Carlos Sainz is momenteel actief in de Formule 1 voor het team van Ferrari. Hij aast op een nieuw contract, maar niemand weet waar hij over een aantal jaar zal rijden. Audi betreedt in 2026 de Formule 1 en de vader van Sainz heeft het vaak over de Duitse fabrikant met zijn zoon.

Sainz senior rijdt immers rally's voor Audi. De ervaren Spanjaard trotseerde in de afgelopen weken de Saoedische woestijn in een wagen van Audi tijdens de iconische Dakar Rally. Sainz senior schreef de rally uiteindelijk op zijn naam en zijn zoon wachtte hem op bij de finish om een klein feestje te vieren. De Ferrari-coureur zal zich nu weer gaan focussen op zijn sport, maar de banden met Audi bestaan in ieder geval.

Zekerheidje

Audi zal vanaf 2026 gaan samenwerken met het team van Sauber en de verwachtingen zijn zeer hoog. Sainz senior bespreekt zijn werkgever tijdens de persconferentie na afloop van de Dakar Rally: "Audi is altijd een zekerheidje. Ik weet namelijk hoe serieus ze elk project aanpakken. Ik weet ook goed wat de bekende Duitse mentaliteit in de praktijk betekent, zowel de goede als de mindere kanten ken ik daarvan. We moeten gewoon veel respect hebben voor de Volkswagen Group met Audi als onderdeel."

Respect

Sainz heeft het dan ook wel eens met zijn zoon over het merk. Sainz junior werd al eerder in verband gebracht met het Formule 1-project en zijn vader spreekt zich uit: "We weten allemaal dat de Formule 1 een speciale wereld is. Ik zou veel respect hebben voor Audi. In mijn ogen is het een kwestie van tijd voordat ze slagen in de Formule 1. Ik heb geen glazen bol, maar op het moment dat Audi besluit in deze sport te stappen, dwingen ze daar bij mij veel respect mee af. Het is logisch dat we thuis met Carlos praten over wat Audi kan doen, ik heb immers lid van de Audi-familie."

Lijkt me verstandig om wat je thuis bespreekt daar te laten papa Carlos, dit geroeptoeter in de media helpt je zoon niet...

Audi is een gerenomeerd autosportmerk maar dat geeft nog geen garanties dat ze straks meteen voorin meedraaien.

  Beter dan in 2026 aanmodderen bij RBull, die hebben 3 jaar nodig om uit de startblokken te komen.

  Knalpijp : Tegen de tijd dat het 2026 is heeft Red Bull samen met Ford al die 3 jaar ervaring met de motoren, daar word al aan gewerkt, volgens mij had RBPT halverwege vorig jaar al een motor op de testbanken draaien.
  Ik denk dat het Red Bull best goed uit de startblokken zal komen in 2026, maar de toekomst zal het uitwijzen wie er vooraan staat.
  En Max naar Ferrari zie ik echt niet gebeuren, niet elke coureur droomt ervan om in het rood te rijden !

Lijkt me sterk dat de kleine Carlos hier oren naar heeft. Of Audi moet wel heel erg met de portemonnee rammelen. Het lijkt me dat gevestigde coureurs de leerjaren van Audi liever aan het tweede garnituur overlaten. Ik zie eventueel wel een soort rusthuisconstructie voor Alonso, Hamilton of Hulkenberg in het verschiet.
