'Mekies wil vertrokken Haas-kopstuk Resta naar AlphaTauri halen'

Het team van Haas nam afgelopen weken afscheid van meerdere belangrijke namen. Naast teambaas Günther Steiner vertrok ook technisch kopstuk Simone Resta bij het team. Voor de Italiaan bestaat veel interesse, ook het team van AlphaTauri lijkt nu geïnteresseerd te zijn in zijn diensten.

Resta fungeerde in de afgelopen jaren als technisch directeur van het team van Haas. Begin deze maand werd echter duidelijk dat hij bij het team is vertrokken. Hij is niet de enige die afscheid moest nemen van de Amerikaanse renstal, ook teambaas Günther Steiner is weggegaan. Resta lijkt weer te zijn teruggekeerd bij zijn oude liefde Ferrari, volgens Italiaanse media is hij daar nu aan de slag gegaan op de GT-afdeling van het merk.

Volgens de Italiaanse tak van Motorsport.com kan Resta zich mogelijk gaan melden bij een ander team. Het medium meldt namelijk dat kersvers AlphaTauri-teambaas Laurent Mekies interesse heeft in de diensten van Resta. Mekies werkte tot vorig jaar bij het team van Ferrari, dus hij kent Resta ook goed. Het team van AlphaTauri is bezig met het aantrekken van veel nieuwe mensen en Resta zou dus in het plaatje passen. Volgens de Italiaanse tak van Motorsport.com zou Resta ook zijn rechterhand Matteo Piraccini mee kunnen nemen naar AlphaTauri.
