Andretti laat niets aan het toeval over: "Tijd is belangrijk"

Het team van Andretti wil nog steeds de Formule 1 gaan betreden. De Amerikaanse renstal heeft goedkeuring gekregen van de FIA, maar bij de FOM twijfelen ze nog over de plannen. Michael Andretti en zijn manschappen zijn echter al hard aan het werk, want ze willen niets aan het toeval overlaten.

Autosportfederatie FIA zette vorig jaar de deur op een kier voor mogelijke nieuwe Formule 1-teams. Meerdere partijen schreven zich in, maar uiteindelijk kwam alleen de samenwerking tussen Andretti en Cadillac door het strenge selectieproces heen. Toch mogen ze de sport nog niet betreden, want de FOM moet nog naar de plannen kijken. Aangezien de huidige teams geen fan zijn van de plannen, is het nog niet zeker of Andretti daadwerkelijk aan de start gaat verschijnen.

Bij Andretti laat men niets aan het toeval over. Er staat al een concept in de windtunnel en Michael Andretti legt aan The Athletic uit waarom ze zonder groen licht al zijn begonnen: "Tijd is altijd enorm belangrijk in de Formule 1. We werken zo snel mogelijk om ervoor te zorgen dat we een zo competitief mogelijke auto hebben en dat we een zo'n sterk mogelijk team hebben als we ons plekje op de grid mogen innemen. Ik ben erg blij dat we al zoveel mogelijk vooruitgang hebben geboekt op activiteiten met een lange doorlooptijd, zoals aerodynamisch ontwerp en simulatie."

  In principe heeft de FOM hier maar weinig over in te brengen. Zij regelen de commerciële rechten, waar er geracet wordt enz.
  De FIA maakt de regels rondom de F1. En de regels van de F1 wordt er gesproken over de 12 teams.
  Indien er gewoon een stabiel team bij kan komen is dat niet tegen te houden door de FOM.
  Echter is er natuurlijk een bepaalde kruis bestuiving. En ook al heeft de FOM geen juridische stem (of wel, geen idee hoe het precies zit) dan nog zal er afstemming zijn.
  Bijvoorbeeld teams tegen houden omdat er te weinig pitboxen zijn. Daarvoor is de FOM namelijk weer verantwoordelijk...
  
  Echter denk ik dat als Andretti een Nee te horen krijgen, dat een rechtszaak gaat komen en die gaan ze winnen.

  Het is juist andersom. De FIA heeft hier weinig over te zeggen. De FIA is door de FOM ingehuurd als “scheidsrechter”. De formule 1 is eigendom van de FOM en die bepaald uiteindelijk.
  
  Ik hoop wel dat Andretti mag toetreden. De teams en FOM moeten veder kijken dan alleen hun eigen portemonnee in deze.

  Bij de verkoop van de F1 rechten (nu in handen van LM) heeft de FIA ook eencgroot deel van de inspraak verkocht. De FIA beslist nu niet meer alleen over de regelgeving etc, de FOM geeft ook inspraak. Vandaar de machtsstrijd die je altijd ziet.
  
  Was laatst een podcast van the-race waarin dat besproken werd.
  
  Persoonlijk vind ik het bespottelijk dat het huidige Concorde akkoord 12 teams toestaat en dat er zo’n heisa is rondom de toetreding van Andretti als 11de team.

Ik dacht dat er tot half 2025 niets aan de ontwikkeling van de 2026 auto's mocht gebeuren.

  Dat is een regel die bestaat voor de bestaande F1 teams.
  Voorlopig is Andretti nog geen ingeschreven F1 team. Daarbij bestaan er geloof ik andere regels voor nieuwe teams en motorleveranciers.
  
  Verder heeft Andretti geen testmogelijkheden tot die tijd.
