F1 Commission keurt gloednieuw sprintformat goed

Vandaag kwam de F1 Commission bij elkaar in de Britse hoofdstad Londen. Hier werden er weer een aantal belangrijke punten besproken en werden er weer een aantal knopen doorgehakt. Ze hebben groen licht gegeven voor een hernieuwd sprintformat voor het komende seizoen.

Onder leiding van Formule 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali en FIA Single Seater-directeur Nikolas Tombazis werden er meerdere punten besproken. Het belangrijkste besluit gaat over het sprintformat. De F1 Commission heeft toestemming gegeven voor een nieuw sprintformat waarbij de eerste vrije training en de sprintkwalificatie worden verreden op de vrijdag. Op zaterdag zal er dat eerst worden gesprint en daarna wordt de normale kwalificatie afgewerkt. Op zondag wordt gewoon de race verreden.

Daarnaast worden er ook een aantal dingen gewijzigd aan het technische en sportieve reglement. De teambazen werden het erover eens dat de coureurs aankomend seizoen weer vier Power Units per jaar mogen gebruiken. Daarnaast mogen de coureurs nu twee rondes na de start gebruik gaan maken van de DRS, na een herstart mag de achtervleugel nu na één rondje open. Deze regels worden naar alle waarschijnlijkheid gewoon doorgevoerd, het is de verwachting dat ze ook worden goedgekeurd tijdens de vergadering van het World Motor Sport Council op 28 februari.

    Sprint voor de kwali.. Ergens wel logisch, maar als je je auto tijdens de sprint in de soep rijdt, heb je hier dus ook tijdens de kwali last van en dus ook op zondag..

    Top! Nu nog de regie inlichten dat ze niet precies op het moment dat het spannend wordt in de race, vaak vanaf het moment dat de DRS gaat werken, de racestart herhalen.

    Ik houd van het oldskool format en dat zal ook zo blijven, heb niks met de sprint weekenden, kijk dan alleen de race op zondag.

    Sprintrace was er toch voor dat de vrijdag interessanter werd vanwege de kwalificatie.

    Nu gaat men weer terug naar de zaterdag. Schaf gewoon de sprintrace af.

      Of maak er gewoon het volgende van als je echt zo graag een sprint format wil (voor alle duidelijkheid, ik ben geen voorstander van de sprint maar als het moet laat het dan zoveel mogelijk gescheiden zijn van de Zaterdag/Zondag)

      Vrijdag:
      45 minuten vrije training
      30 minuten Sprint kwalificatie
      Sprint race

      Zaterdag:
      60 minuten vrije training
      Kwalificatie

      Zondag:
      Grand Prix

      Nog beter, schaf het af!
