Getergde Sainz verwacht: "Resultaten van Ferrari interesseren hem niet"

Carlos Sainz staat aan de vooravond van een belangrijk seizoen. De Spaanse coureur beschikt over een aflopend contract bij Ferrari en hij wordt na dit seizoen vervangen door Lewis Hamilton. Jacques Villeneuve denkt dat Sainz zich dit jaar niet druk zal maken om de teamprestaties van Ferrari.

Sainz was geruime tijd met Ferrari in gesprek over een contractverlenging. Begin vorige week werd duidelijk dat de onderhandelingen moeizaam verliepen en al snel werd duidelijk wat de reden daarachter was. Ferrari had namelijk een deal gesloten met Lewis Hamilton. De Britse zevenvoudig wereldkampioen gaat per 2025 rijden voor de Italiaanse renstal en dat betekent dat hij na elf jaar vertrekt bij Mercedes.

Sainz zal zich dit jaar in de picture moeten rijden. Hij heeft veel opties, maar als hij tegenvallend presteert, wordt het allemaal lastig voor hem. Enkelvoudig wereldkampioen laat aan La Gazzetta dello Sport weten dat Sainz geen interesse heeft in het spelen van het teamspel: "De resultaten van Ferrari betekenen helemaal niets meer voor hem. Het enige wat nu voor hem telt, zijn zijn eigen resultaten in het komend seizoen. Hij moet wel gaan presteren voor een contract in 2025, wellicht kan hij dat gaan doen door Charles Leclerc proberen te verslaan."

Natuurlijk moet je elk seizoen tot het uiterste willen gaan. En als de titel niet mogelijk is ga je voor dag succesjes en podium plekken.

    Daar zitten we toch niet op te wachten? Lekkere smeuïge roddelverhalen, zoals Pietje hier zo lekker kan delen, wil ik lezen en zien. 🤩

      Wat dat betreft was 2023 ook best een mooi jaar voor Sainz, met de overwinning in Singapore (wat gewoon een hele indrukwekkende race was van hem) als hoogtepunt. Natuurlijk maakt het wat uit. Het is een sportman.

      En uiteraard heeft Sainz nog een groot doel komend seizoen. Hij wil Leclerc de moeder rijden. En waarom zou hij hem niet verslaan. Zonder de vele pech van Sainz zou het ook afgelopen seizoen mogelijk zijn kant op zijn gevallen. Hoewel ik meer fan ben van Leclerc dan Sainz vond ik Leclerc bepaald niet indrukwekkend. Zeker niet tot en met Singapore. Daarna kwam de vorm bij hem weer wat terug.

      @snailer: Ja, Sainz heeft ook zijn deel pech gehad en Leclerc was in het begin niet sterk. Maar toen hij de zaak een beetje op orde kreeg was hij meteen sterker dan Sainz en finishte met meer punten terwijl hij wel een race minder de finish heeft gezien.
      Met een goede Leclerc gaat Sainz hem niet verslaan.

      Leclerc is in de basis ook een betere (en vooral snellere) coureur dan Sainz. Sterker nog, als Leclerc echt zijn volle potentie zou benutten is het zelfs een absolute top coureur. Maar dat is nu net altijd het probleem geweest bij Leclerc, hij is over het algemeen wisselvallig geweest gedurende een seizoen. Sommige periodes is hij absoluut uitmuntend (begin 2022 en eind 2023). Maar andere periodes is het matig.

      Sainz is dan wat meer de stabiele factor. En desalniettemin is Sainz ook gewoon een hele goede en fijne coureur in je team te hebben. Dus als ik Mercedes was, zou ik gewoon voor Sainz gaan en niet voor een dan 43 of 44-jarige Alonso. Antonelli kan natuurlijk wel, maar die kun je ook eerst 2 of 3 jaar bij Williams laten rijden. Bottas vind ik geen optie meer, dus daar ga ik verder niet op in.

      Dat Sainz weg moet voor Hamilton is natuurlijk ook niet raar. Als je alleen al kijkt naar wat het doet op de aandelenmarkt maar ook qua motivatie binnen het team als je een hele grote naam binnenhaalt (zie Aston Martin dit jaar), dan heb je eigenlijk al een groot voordeel te pakken, zelfs als het uiteindelijk misschien wat tegenvalt.
      Het is ook zeker niet ondenkbaar dat Leclerc gewoon sneller gaat zijn dan Hamilton (en Hamilton constanter dan Leclerc).

      De rijders carroussel wordt in ieder geval flink opgeschud, en dat beetje sensatie heeft de F1 ook wel nodig imo!

      Leclerc is vooral uitmuntend op bepaalde banen. Check al zijn overwinningen maar en ook alle races waar hij sterk is geweest. Meestal lange rechte stukken er in en bochten met minder load op de banden.

      Uiteraard vind ik Leclerc beter, maar ik heb echt nog niet gezien bij Leclerc dat hij een absolute top rijder is. Voorlopig hij ik het wat dat betreft bij Hamilton, Verstappen en Alonso, En van Norris vermoed ik dat die aan het aansluiten is bij die 3.

      O en aandelenmarkt is gewoon gehyped. Pak maar eens het moment er bij dat de Ferrari cijfers zijn bekendgemaakt. Dat was namelijk voor de jump van de aandelen.
