Juridische stappen tegen Sauber vanwege Stake-samenwerking

Het team van Sauber staat dit jaar op de grid onder de naam Stake F1 Team. De logo's van het gokplatform staan sinds vorig jaar op de auto's, maar dit jaar zijn ze de titelsponsor. Deze samenwerking levert Sauber mogelijk problemen op, want ze overtreden mogelijk de gokregels.

De samenwerking met Stake was geen grote verrassing. Vorig jaar stonden de logo's al groot op de wagens van Valtteri Bottas en Guanyu Zhou, dit jaar rijden ze in een wagen die vol staat met verwijzingen naar Stake. Sauber zal tijdens een aantal races gaan rijden met een andere naam. Aangezien reclame maken voor gokken in meerdere landen is verboden, worden de Stake-logo's in de desbetreffende landen vervangen door Kick-logo's.

Ook in Zwitserland is het verboden om reclame te maken voor gokken. Dit levert Sauber mogelijk problemen op, want ze kunnen hiermee de gokregels overtreden. Volgens de Zwitserse omroep SRF heeft de lokale kansspelcommissie een onderzoek geopend naar de samenwerking met Stake. Als ze schuldig worden bevonden, kan de boete oplopen naar een bedrag van 500.000 Zwitserse Frank. Bij Sauber zijn ze zich van geen kwaad bewust, eerder deze week trokken ze vol enthousiasme het doek van de nieuwe C44. Het is de verwachting dat er snel duidelijkheid komt in de zaak.
