Officieel: Silverstone tot en met 2034 op F1-kalender

In de afgelopen jaren zijn er veel nieuwe Grands Prix bijgekomen in de Formule 1. De sport racet sinds kort in de straten van onder meer Bakoe, Las Vegas en Jeddah. Er werd gevreesd voor de toekomst van de klassieke circuits, maar het circuit van Silverstone blijft voorlopig nog wel even op de kalender staan.

De organisatie maakte zojuist bekend dat ze hun contract met de Formule 1 met tien jaar hebben verlengd. Silverstone heeft bekend gemaakt dat ze de Britse Grand Prix blijven organiseren tot en met tenminste 2034. Ze maakten het nieuws bekend doormiddel van een ludiek filmpje met Lando Norris en George Russell in de hoofdrol. Silverstone speelt een grote rol in de geschiedenis van de sport, op het circuit werd in 1950 de eerste Formule 1-Grand Prix verreden.

      ja, moet je nu mee aankomen; we gaan racen op een oud verlaten vliegveld. Laten we gewoon elk nieuw circuit een eerlijke kans geven, het is niet traditioneel vs nieuw, het is een prima mix. In de afgelopen jaren zijn bv Imola en Zandvoort ook terug gekomen. En daarvoor ook bv de Red Bull Ring. Het wisselen van circuits is van alle tijden en op traditionele circuits zie je ook geregeld de meest saaie optochten. Dit jaar ook weer terug naar China, 1 vd beter gelukte Tilke domes

      Het slaat ook nergens op. Er zijn tov 20 jaar geleden drie circuits verdwenen. Sepang, Magny Cours en de nurburgring. Mc was sowieso een slecht circuit.

      Er zijn gewoon veel gp´s bijgekomen.

      Persoonlijk vindt ik het alles behalve een prima mix. Met Madrid erbij en alle andere straten circuits de laatste jaren slaat de mix mij persoonlijk te veel door naar de stratencircuit kant.

      10 van de 24 races in 2024 zijn op (semi) stratencircuits, iets je veel naar mijn smaak.

      Ik zie liever Mugello, Portimao, Turkije en Sepang (en als ik hebberig mag zijn het oude Hockenheim) op de kalender ipv Miami, Madrid, Jeddah en Abu Dhabi.

      Ieder zijn meug natuurlijk. En dat betekend niet dat permanente circuits heilig zijn maar er zijn er genoeg waar ik graag een GP op zou zien die nu niet op de kalender staan.

      Trouwens, wat ik ook wel leuk zou vinden is Back to back races op Bahrain zoals in de Corona tijd. Seizoen opener op de huidige lay out en een week daarna op de outer loop.

      Of bijvoorbeeld (geen idee of dit haalbaar is) als we dan toch sprint races hebben (schaf ze af alsjeblieft!!) doe een sprint race op de outer loop op zaterdag en de GP op de huidige lay out. Succes met het optimaal afstellen van de auto 😂
