India vraagt cricketheld Tendulkar voor zwaaien van finishvlag

Als het aan de organisatie van de Grand Prix van India ligt vlagt Sachin Tendulkar zondag met het zwart-wit geblokt de eerste Formule 1-race in het Aziatische land af. Tendulkar is een grootheid in de populairste sport in India, cricket, en is ook fan van de autosport.

Tendulkar is voorgedragen om de finishvlag te zwaaien, al neemt Formula One Management daar op donderdag een definitief besluit over. Een woordvoerder voor de race-organisatie liet in de Times of India weten: De liefde van Sachin voor autosport is algemeen bekend en hij is ook nog eens het grootste sportfenomeen van India. Het is niet meer dan logisch dat we hem hiervoor vragen.
