Russische overheid pompt 130 miljoen euro in circuit in Sotsji

De Russische regering heeft ongeveer 130 miljoen euro opzij gezet voor de bouw van het Formule 1-circuit in Sotsji. Rusland heeft voor 2014 een plek op de Formule 1-kalender toebedeeld gekregen. In dat jaar vinden ook de Olympische Winterspelen in Sotsji plaats.

Dat zorgde voor bezorgdheid over de voorbereiding van beide evenementen, maar alles loopt op schema en de autoriteiten beschikken over voldoende financiële middelen. Alaxander Ivanov, vice-gouverneur van de regio Krasnodar, stelde tegenover Reuters: De federale overheid heeft 5.846 miljoen roebel gereserveerd voor het Formule 1-project.
