Steve Nielsen aan de slag als sportief directeur bij Team Lotus

Team Lotus, vanaf volgend jaar Caterham F1 Team, heeft Steve Nielsen aangetrokken als nieuwe sportief directeur. De Brit vervangt per 12 december aanstaande Dieter Gass. Nielsen was eerder werkzaam voor Arrows, Benetton/Renault, Tyrell en het oude Team Lotus.

Teambaas Tony Fernandes: Ik ontmoette Steve in Singapore 2010 voor het eerst en bood hem meteen een baan aan, wat hij weigerde. Het doet me deugd dat hij zich nu toch bij ons gaat voegen. Het is goed voor ons team dat we mensen van het kaliber van Steve vast kunnen leggen. Hij deelt ons geloof in onze mogelijkheden om te groeien en de middenmoot uit te dagen.

Team Lotus verlengde ook het contract van teammanager Graham Watson. Ik ben blij dat we overeenstemming bereikt hebben over een nieuw contract voor Graham, aangezien hij een van de pilaren is waar ons team op rust. We hebben meer aankondigingen op komst in de komende weken om onze doelen voor de lange termijn te bewerkstelligen, aldus Fernandes.
