Team Lotus introduceert in Brazilië een nieuwe achtervleugel

Team Lotus reist volgend week naar Sao Paulo af met een nieuwe achtervleugel voor de T128 in de tas. Daarmee hoopt de Maleisische renstal in het laatste raceweekend van 2011 het gat naar de middenmoot in de kwalificatie te dichten. De nieuwe achtervleugel adresseert het probleem dat Team Lotus heeft met het vrije gebruik van DRS in de kwalificatie.

Technisch directeur Mike Gascoyne: Onze progressie op het circuit is overduidelijk en een nieuw teken van onze aanhoudende ontwikkeling is het feit dat we een nieuwe achtervleugel meenemen naar Brazilië. Onze racesnelheid is het hele jaar al vrij aardig, in de kwalificaties hebben we meer moeite. De nieuwe achtervleugel is ontworpen om de effectiviteit van DRS te verbeteren.

Simpel gezegd; omdat DRS in de kwalificatie vrij gebruikt mag worden kwamen onze prestaties in Q1 niet overeen met het tempo in de races, wanneer het gebruik van DRS gelimiteerd is. Met een nieuwe achtervleugel met meer downforce en meer efficiëntie voor DRS willen we het gat naar de middenmoot in de kwalificatie op Interlagos dichten.
