Vettel en Red Bull Racing genomineerd voor Laureus Awards

De uitzonderlijke prestaties van Sebastian Vettel en Red Bull Racing in de Formule 1 dit jaar hebben ook nominaties voor de Laureus World Sports Awards opgeleverd. Vettel won elf Grands Prix en pakte zijn tweede wereldtitel. Red Bull Racing prolongeerde haar titel met twaalf zeges in 2011.

De uitreiking van de prijzen vindt op 6 februari plaats in Londen. Vettel neemt het in de categorie Sportman van het Jaar op tegen basketballer Dirk Nowitzki, hardloper Usain Bolt, tennisser Novak Djokovic, wielrenner Cadel Evans en voetballer Lionel Messi. Red Bull Racing krijgt in de categorie Sportploeg van het Jaar onder meer concurrentie van basketbalploeg Dallas Mavericks en het nationale rugbyteam van Nieuw-Zeeland.
