Piero Ferrari maakt zich sterk voor Europese Formule 1-races

De leiding van de Formule 1 moet ervoor zorgen dat de historische Europese races ten alle tijden op de kalender blijven staan. Dat is de mening van Piero Ferrari, zoon van Ferrari-oprichter Enzo Ferrari. De Italiaan hield bij Wrooom 2012 een pleidooi voor de Europese Grands Prix.

Ferrari: Wij vinden dat de Formule 1 een wereldwijd kampioenschap hoort te zijn, dus met races buiten Europa. Wat ik wel betreur is de teloorgang van belangrijke Europese Grands Prix, zoals Frankrijk. Het zou zonde zijn als meer van dat soort locaties ten onder gaat. Ik ben geen voorstander van minder Grands Prix in Europa. Voor ons is Silverstone een heel belangrijke race, net als Monza en Spa-Francorchamps. Elk jaar zie je daar fantastische wedstrijden en dat moeten we behouden.
