Nieuwe superzachte band van Pirelli debuteert in Barcelona

Pirelli neemt op verzoek van de teams 34 setjes superzachte banden mee naar de komende test in Barcelona. De zachtste compound uit de reeks van de Italiaanse bandenfabrikant debuteert deze week. In Jerez werd geen enkele keer met die band gereden.

Het meest populair blijkt de medium band, daarvan verscheept Pirelli 110 setjes naar Barcelona. De teams hebben in totaal 82 setjes zacht en 69 setjes hard gevraagd. 36 setjes intermediates en 36 setjes regenbanden daarbij opgeteld maakt een totaal van 367 setjes banden voor deze test.

Pirelli-motorsportbaas Paul Hembery: "Iedereen hoopt op warmere en meer constante omstandigheden in Barcelona. Die hadden we niet in Jerez, maar toch waren de eerste geluiden over onze nieuwe banden positief. De coureurs zijn over het algemeen tevreden over de opwarming, performance en duurzaamheid van ons nieuwe rubber."

"Barcelona is een heel ander circuit dan Jerez en vergt veel meer van de banden door de hoge snelheden, vooral linksvoor door de vele snelle bochten naar rechts. De nadruk van de teams zal wederom liggen op ontwikkeling en leren hoe de banden samenwerken met de chassis' van 2012."
