Silverstone vergroot capaciteit om aan belangstelling te voldoen

Het circuit van Silverstone bouwt twee nieuwe tribunes met een capaciteit van in totaal meer dan 3.500 plekken om aan de overweldigende vraag voor kaarten tegemoet te komen. De ticketverkoop voor de Britse Grand Prix 2012 ligt momenteel tien procent hoger dan rond hetzelfde tijdstip vorig jaar voor het evenement van 2011.

Silverstone-directeur Richard Phillips: “Vorig jaar was de opkomst alle drie de dagen geweldig en de belangstelling voor het weekend van dit jaar is zelfs nog groter. Onze capaciteit vergroten stelt nog meer mensen in staat om de spanning, het spektakel en het drama van de Formule 1 op Silverstone te ervaren. We halen trots uit het feit dat we ons best doen om de experience voor de bezoekers te optimaliseren, met goed zicht op de baan vanaf alle tribunes, eersteklas faciliteiten voor de fans en een uitgebreid entertainment-programma. Degenen die komen kunnen zich verheugen op drie fantastische dagen.”

    Geweldig, Bernie verdient dan meer geld in de overzeese landen. De sfeer zoals in de \"traditionele\" landen zal hij nooit kunnen nabootsen.

    Wat wil je ook, met een goed draaiend Brits team met 2 Britse wereldkampioenen. Daarnaast is Silverstone ook een plek met historie en is de lay-out, zelfs na de aanpassingen nog steeds machtig mooi.

    Ik ben nooit echt een fan geweest van Silverstone om eerlijk te zijn. Ik vind het altijd een nogal gehypte race, vooral door Engelse media. Maar de sfeer en het publiek is altijd prachtig om te zien. Je kunt echt zien hoe enorm de sport daar leeft.

    Goed dat ze zich ervoor inzetten die capaciteit te vergroten!

      ...en dan nog durft Ecclestone om de 2-3 jaar dreigen om de Engelse GP van de kalender te halen!
      Ronduit schandalig.
      Enkel op Monza en Interlagos kunnen ze die sfeer evenaren denk ik.

      Geef Alonso een winnende auto en Spanje telt ook mee. Of vroeger in het Schumacher tijdperk op de oude Hockenheim waar de coureurs echt een stadium binnen reden van uit het bos. Tja, daar komt een Bahrein niet bij in de buurt. Als die gaan uitbreiden, dan zal het gaan om maximaal 2 keer 35 VIP-plaatsen.

      Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat al die races zonder fans zo goed is voor de sport. Net als een voetbal wedstrijd in een leeg stadion, gelijk een stuk saaier.
