Magny-Cours legt zich niet neer bij Grand Prix op Paul Ricard

Magny-Cours verzet zich tegen de automatische toewijzing van een Grand Prix aan Paul Ricard, mocht de Formule 1 weer naar Frankrijk komen. Magny-Cours was jarenlang gastheer van de Franse race en is verbolgen dat het zonder overleg is gepasseerd bij de pogingen om de Grand Prix terug te halen.

Patrice Joly, president van departement Nievre waarin Magny-Cours ligt, beschuldigde de Franse premier Francois Fillon van een voorkeursbehandeling voor Paul Ricard. Hij benadrukte dat Magny-Cours alle faciliteiten, de infrastructuur en de expertise bezit om een Grand Prix te huisvesten.

Voormalig teameigenaar Guy Ligier doet in L'Equipe ook een duit in het zakje. "Ik probeer te helpen. Ik heb Bernie Ecclestone meerdere malen aan de telefoon gehad als vriend en hem om advies gevraagd. We hebben gesproken over de hotels rondom Magny-Cours. Bernie gaat echter niets tekenen voordat de uitslag van de presidentsverkiezingen bekend is. Eerlijk gezegd denk ik niet dat alles al verloren is voor Magny-Cours."
