Twijfels over terugkeer Franse GP mogelijk goed nieuws voor Spa

De Grand Prix van Frankrijk keert waarschijnlijk tóch niet terug op de Formule 1-kalender, zo heeft Bernie Ecclestone laten weten vanuit Barcelona. Lange tijd werd er gesproken over een comeback van de Grand Prix, die dan op Paul Ricard verreden had moeten worden. Volgens Ecclestone is de wisseling van de macht in Frankrijk nu een spelbreker.

"Ik heb geen enkel idee wat ze daar aan het doen zijn", vertelde Ecclestone tegen Reuters. "Ik had al mijn twijfels over hun plannen, al was het financiële gedeelte wel al helemaal rond." Paul Ricard zou dan om het jaar een Grand Prix mogen organiseren en zou een plaats op de kalender moeten delen met Spa-Francorchamps. Mogelijk is het niet doorgaan van de Franse Grand Prix goed nieuws voor het Belgische circuit.
