Ecclestone: "Barcelona volgend jaar op kalender, Valencia in 2014

Het Circuito de Catalunya zal volgend seizoen gewoon op de kalender staan, zo vertelde Bernie Ecclestone vanuit Spanje. Het circuit in Catalonië zal vanaf komend jaar gaan afwisselen met Valencia, maar dat circuit zal dus pas in 2014 weer op de kalender staan.

Zowel in Catalonië als in Valencia wil men de kosten voor het organiseren van een Formule 1-race omlaag brengen. Het idee ontstond om beide circuits om het jaar de race te laten organiseren en dit plan werd gedeeld door Ecclestone. Gisteren vertelde de Brit: "De race zal hier (Barcelona, red.) zijn in 2013 en in Valencia in 2014."

Dit betekend tegelijkertijd dat de titel Grand Prix van Europa volgend seizoen niet op de kalender zal staan. Dit is voor het eerst sinds 1998.
