Mercedes zoekt naarstig naar meer betrouwbaarheid bij Schumacher

Het team van Mercedes reserveert momenteel vrijwel alle middelen om de oorzaak voor de vele betrouwbaarheidsproblemen bij Michael Schumacher te achterhalen. De zevenvoudig wereldkampioen viel al vijf keer uit in zeven races, onder andere met mankementen aan DRS, versnellingsbak en oliedruk. Dat schiet niet op.

Teambaas Ross Brawn vertelt in Bild: "Beide auto's zijn volgens dezelfde standaard en dezelfde processen ontworpen en gebouwd. Ons doel is altijd om honderd procent betrouwbaar te zijn en daar slagen we momenteel niet in. Dat heeft nadelige consequenties voor onze positie in het kampioenschap en onze kansen in de races. Deze problemen oplossen geniet onze prioriteit."

"We moeten de oorzaken begrijpen en op een duidelijke en systematische manier handelen. Elk teamlid is zich bewust van zijn of haar verantwoordelijkheden en de problemen zijn niet het resultaat van een gebrek aan aandacht of inzet. We kunnen het oplossen. Nico Rosberg heeft elke ronde dit jaar voltooid en het team heeft historisch gezien een goede naam met betrouwbaarheid."
