Canada nadert nieuw Grand Prix-contract tot en met 2024

De Grand Prix van Canada in Montreal lijkt de komende jaren zeker van een plek op de Formule 1-kalender. La Presse meldt dat de organisatie overeenstemming heeft bereikt met Bernie Ecclestone over de voorwaarden voor een contract tot en met 2024. Het wachten is op groen licht voor een renovatie van de faciliteiten.

Ecclestone legt uit: "Over de fee zijn we het eens, dat is geen probleem. Het enige dat nog ontbreekt is toestemming om te bouwen." De Brit doelt op een grondige verbouwing, ter waarde van twintig miljoen dollar. "Montreal hoeft zich niet te spiegelen aan Abu Dhabi. We willen alleen wel een upgrade, een facelift. Als ze hier doen wat ze in Silverstone gedaan hebben, dat zou geweldig zijn. Canada is belangrijk voor ons."
