Sauber verklaart zich een groot fan van huidige Formule 1

De onvoorspelbaarheid en schommelende verhoudingen in de Formule 1 dit jaar kunnen Sauber-teambaas Peter Sauber wel bekoren. De koningsklasse van de autosport was nog nooit zo spannend of zo spectaculair, vindt de Zwitser. Hij is het dan ook niet eens met de kritiek op de gevoelige Pirelli-banden en het kunstmatige inhalen met DRS.

Sauber: "Voor zover ik weet kan slechts een handjevol mensen in de paddock niet wennen aan het feit dat je op de vrijdag bij een Grand Prix nog niet weet wie op zondag zal winnen. De fans zien het totaal anders. Zij zijn verguld met de onvoorspelbaarheid, met de variatie en met hoe hevig de competitie momenteel is. Ik ben al meer dan twintig jaar werkzaam in de Formule 1 en het is nooit beter of meer opwindend geweest dan dit seizoen. Dat is gedeeltelijk te danken aan Pirelli, dat banden levert voor een show."
