Valencia omarmt idee voor wisselschema Spaanse Grand Prix

Een gedeelde plek op de Formule 1-kalender met Barcelona is de enige manier om de toekomst van Valencia op het rooster te waarborgen. De economische situatie in Spanje en de protesten van lokale bewoners eisen hun tol op de havenstad. Bovendien stuurt Bernie Ecclestone aan op één race per jaar in Spanje.

Een wisselschema is de oplossing om de Formule 1 voor zowel Barcelona als Valencia te behoeden. Valencia-president Alberto Fabra meldt in El Pais: "We zijn in onderhandeling en hopelijk bereiken we op korte termijn een akkoord over om-en-om een Grand Prix organiseren en over nieuwe voorwaarden. Ons budget is niet groot, maar van beide kanten is bereidheid om tot overeenstemming te komen."
