Red Bull Racing verwacht episch gevecht tot het gaatje

De strijd om het kampioenschap zal de komende maanden groteske vormen aannemen. Dat verwacht Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner. In Hongarije waren McLaren en Lotus sterker. Zo verschuiven de verhoudingen continu en blijft het spannend.

Horner: "We gaan de zomerpauze in met 53 punten voorsprong bij de constructeurs en met onze rijders op plekken twee en drie bij de coureurs. Met nog negen races op het programma zijn er nog 225 punten te verdelen, en het zal tot het gaatje gaan. We zullen de week voordat we de fabriek sluiten benutten om nog wat te doen. Daarna krijgt iedereen binnen het team de gelegenheid om de batterijen op te laden voor de manische laatste drie maanden."

"De Hungaroring is vrij uniek. Veelbelovend is dat onze racesnelheid heel goed was. Sebastian Vettel keek negentig procent van de wedstrijd tegen de versnellingsbak van iemand anders aan. Op een vrije baan ging hij heel hard. We worstelden wel wat op de harde band. We hebben veel geleerd dit weekend en hopelijk kunnen we dat in de komende races toepassen."
