Marussia in 2013 met Cosworth en met KERS van Williams

Het team van Marussia ligt op schema met de ontwikkeling van de MR02, de nieuwe bolide voor volgend jaar. De Russische renstal gaat in 2013 verder met Cosworth als motorenleverancier en zal voor het eerst KERS in haar wagens monteren. Marussia neemt het energie hergebruikende systeem af van Williams.

Technisch adviseur Pat Symonds legt uit: "De MR02 ligt op schema. Zoals altijd is de planning krap, maar dat is zoals het hoort omdat je zoveel mogelijk performance op de auto wil hebben. We hebben wat ingrijpende veranderingen op het oog, maar in grote lijnen is het een evolutie van de huidige wagen. De lessen die we geleerd hebben met de MR01 passen we toe op de nieuwe auto."

"Wij blijven Cosworth trouw. We zijn tevreden over het werk dat zij verrichten en we proberen samen de aspecten die volgens de reglementen toegestaan zijn te verbeteren. We concentreren ons op een betere rijbaarheid van de motor en de synergie met de auto verstevigen."

"Volgend jaar gaan we ook KERS gebruiken. We adopteren het systeem dat Williams ontwikkeld heeft, waarmee ze vorig jaar reden met de Cosworth-motoren en die ook nu nog achterin de FW34 ligt. Ons KERS voor 2013 is een doorontwikkeling hiervan. We zijn onder de indruk van de engineering, efficiëntie en het gewicht. Williams is eveneens een genot om zowel technisch als commercieel mee samen te werken."

Ok, dus als ik het niet verkeerd heb brengt dat ergens tussen een halve en een seconden. Naar mijn weten komen ze dan nog kleine drie volle seconcden te kort. Moet hun spirit en vastberadenheid wel toe juichen.

zal toch wel een overbruggingsjaar worden met het oog op de nieuwe motoren in 2014? kan me niet voorstellen als ze stappen vooruit willen gaan maken ervoor kiezen met Cosworth verder te gaan

Ik snap ook niet wat Cosworth nog in de F1 doet. Ik denk dat de Renault motor allang zijn meerwaarde heeft getoond. Toch ook voor Caterham. Marussia en HRT kunnen er nauwelijks tegenop boksen.
