Pirelli wil Robert Kubica als testcoureur

Het moment dat Robert Kubica terugkeert in een Formule 1-wagen lijkt langzaam aan dichter bij te komen. De Pool die begin vorig jaar tijdens een rally zichzelf uitschakelde voor het Formule 1-kampioenschap is nog altijd niet teruggekeerd in de klasse waarin hij schitterde.

Pirelli lijkt haar pijlen nu echter te richten op Kubica, om gebruik te maken van zijn diensten. De Italiaanse bandenfabrikant wil Kubica als testcoureur aanstellen voor het ontwikkelingsprogramma. Mede door het waarschijnlijke vertrek van huidig Pirelli-testcoureur Jaime Alguersuari, die genoemd wordt om volgend jaar weer te racen in de Formule 1, lijken de kansen van Kubica te stijgen.

Het herstel van Kubica na zijn crash gaat gestaag, al is het voor hem nog niet mogelijk om volledig terug te keren in wagens met veel G-krachten. Voor 2014 zal de Pool dan ook niet racen in de koningsklasse, zo wist hij zelf te melden. Daarom zal een terugkeer als testcoureur, waarbij er minder prestaties neergezet hoeven te worden, een goede uitkomst bieden voor de Pool.

Pirelli's Paul Hembery: "Kubica is inderdaad één van onze mogelijkheden. Ik weet niet of hij nu in de positie is om de kans aan te grijpen, maar hij is zeker het type coureur waar wij naar op zoek zijn voor de ontwikkeling van onze banden."

"Ik heb hem al een tijdje niet gesproken, maar als hij fysiek in staat is om in een Formule 1-wagen te testen bij ons en dit een jaar lang kan doen, stijgen zijn kansen zeker voor een definitieve terugkeer in 2014. Het zou fantastisch zijn als dat zou lukken, voor Pirelli maar ook zeker voor Kubica zelf."

Mooi gebaar om de deur voor hem open te zetten. Het zal moeilijk en misschien wel bijna onmogelijk voor hem zijn, terug te komen, des te groter is de prestatie als dat hem echt gaat lukken.

Zou echt de ideale mogelijkheid voor Robert zijn om te kijken of hij nog kan presteren in een F1 auto. Voor 2013 hoeven we hem niet terug te verwachten ben ik bang. Dus ik zeg doen!

Prachtig! Alleen hoop ik dat hij stopt met rallye-rijden! Niet dat ik hem dat niet gun, maar ik ben bang dat het een keer echt helemaal fout gaat. In zekere zin is F1 nog veiliger ook.

Hey da\'s wel een mooie wending. Dit is echt DE kans voor Kubica om terug te keren, ik ben erg benieuwd of dat gaat gebeuren en hoe het dan gaat.

Hoe sneu het ook is, maar ik zie dit vooral als een publiciteitsstunt/22 september grap.

Het lijkt me in ieder geval verstandig dan ook maar een reservecoureur te contracteren.
