Qatar aast op Formule 1-test in voorbereiding op nieuw seizoen

Qatar is gebrand om de Formule 1 naar het land in het Midden-Oosten te halen. Het oliestaatje beschikt met het circuit van Losail al over een baan en hoopt daarvoor nu een licentie te ontvangen om Formule 1-tests te organiseren.

Dat deelde Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah aan persbureau AFP mede. "Formule 1-wedstrijddirecteur Charlie Whiting heeft ons bezocht om Losail te inspecteren. Hij was onder de indruk van wat hij zag. Ons doel is een Formule 1-test in de voorbereiding op het nieuwe seizoen en eventueel ooit een Grand Prix."
