Pirelli: "Teams hebben geen belang bij hernieuwde bandenoorlog"

De Formule 1-renstallen zijn niet geïnteresseerd in de toetreding van een tweede bandenleverancier naast Pirelli. Dat zegt Pirelli-motorsportbaas Paul Hembery tegenover het Duitse Spox. De laatste bandenoorlog dateert van 2006, toen Bridgestone en Michelin elkaar het leven zuur maakten.

Hembery: "Uit persoonlijk oogpunt zouden we competitie verwelkomen. Het is altijd leuker om een tegenstander te verslaan. Echter, we moeten ook rekening houden met de financiële omgeving en omstandigheden. De teams hebben geen belangstelling in een hernieuwde bandenoorlog. Net als voor bandenfabrikanten is het dan moeilijk om het aandeel van constructeurs in succes te bepalen. Er zijn sterke argumenten nodig om terug te keren naar de dagen van de vrije bandencompetitie."
