Ecclestone geeft Magny-Cours kans op Grand Prix in 2013

Niet Paul Ricard, maar Magny-Cours is in beeld om New Jersey te vervangen op de kalender voor volgend seizoen. Dat verklaarde Bernie Ecclestone tegenover Auto Motor und Sport. "Als we in 2013 naar Frankrijk gaan, dan is dat naar Magny-Cours."

De directie van Magny-Cours gaf nog geen commentaar en volgens oud-coureur Patrick Tambay is het een manier om Paul Ricard onder druk te zetten. Maar dat circuit is toch van Ecclestone? "Nee, het maakt deel uit van mijn familiefonds Bambino en dat heeft niets met mij te maken", aldus de Brit.

Ecclestone schuift wat met datums en komt op 23 juni uit voor een Grand Prix van Frankrijk. "Dat is het meest logisch, nietwaar?" New Jersey stond ingeroosterd voor 16 juni, een week na de Canadese Grand Prix. Silverstone ontvangt de Formule 1 op 30 juni.
