Meindert van Buuren: "GP3-test ging me best gemakkelijk af"

Bij de GP3-test van vorige week dook de naam van een jonge Nederlander op. Meindert van Buuren kwam in actie voor Atech CRS GP en hield zich staande met tijden in de middenmoot. De pas 17-jarige coureur weet niet of het GP3-uitstapje voor 2013 een vervolg krijgt. Hij richt zich voorlopig nog op de de Formule Renault 2.0.

Van Buuren blikt tegenover F1Today.net terug en vooruit: "Over 2012 ben ik niet echt tevreden over het eindresultaat. Dit is voor een deel bepaald door heel veel pech, vaak door onoplettende concurrenten eraf gereden en ander zaken. Wel ben ik tevreden over de snelheid die ik heb ontwikkeld en ik heb daarom veel vertrouwen in de toekomst. De GP3 ziet er heel aantrekkelijk uit en de test ging mij best gemakkelijk af. De banden zijn daar ook een hele uitdaging, net als in de GP2 en in de Formule 1, maar ik had dit vrij snel onder de knie. Het budget is natuurlijk wel een stap hoger. We focussen nu op Formula Renault 2.0 en eventueel GP3. Het uiteindelijke doel blijft natuurlijk Formule 1, ook al weet ik dat dit heel moeilijk te verwezenlijken is."
