FIA biedt Formule 1-dokter Gary Hartstein geen nieuw contract aan

Gary Hartstein verlaat aan het einde van dit jaar noodgedwongen zijn post van medisch gedelegeerde in de Formule 1. De internationale autosportbond FIA heeft besloten om zijn aflopende verbintenis niet te verlengen. Hartstein volgde in 2005 Sid Watkins op en was sindsdien bij elke Grand Prix present als dokter.

De redenen voor de aanstaande breuk zijn onbekend en de FIA weigert daar vooralsnog mededelingen over te doen, zelfs tegen Hartstein. Hij schreef op zijn Twitter-pagina: "Ben net geïnformeerd dat de voorzitter van de FIA en de president van de FIA Medical Commission besloten hebben om mij geen nieuw contract aan te bieden. Ik weet niet waarom, maar dat is ook niet aan mij. Brazilië zal daardoor mijn 247ste en laatste Grand Prix zijn. Deze ervaring heeft mijn leven veranderd en ik zal het nooit vergeten."

      Haha, hier dacht ik ook al aan! Dat is toch niet te hopen. Als Ma Qing Hua de deal met HRT niet rondkrijgt, gaat hij misschien wel in de medical car rondrijden. :)
