Nürburgring ontvangt support, Hockenheimring staat paraat

De locatie voor de Grand Prix van Duitsland 2013 is nog een vraagteken. De Nürburgring hoopt het evenement ondanks een faillissement te behouden terwijl de Hockenheimring zich in gereedheid brengt om ook volgend seizoen de race te organiseren.

Eerst de Nürburgring, dat goed nieuws van de aankomende premier van Rijnland-Palts vernam. Malu Dreyer, na de jaarwisseling de minister-president van de deelstaat, steunt het circuit in de Duitse Eifel. "Ik hoop dat de Nürburgring nog in de running voor de Grand Prix is. Voor mij is de enige vraag: hoe stellen we de toekomst van dit circuit veilig? Ik geloof in elk geval dat de overheid de verplichting heeft om ze te steunen", vertelt ze aan persbureau DPA.

In Hockenheim wachten ze rustig af. De Hockenheimring staat paraat voor het geval de Formule 1 een beroep op het circuit wenst te doen. "We zijn bereid om de Grand Prix volgend jaar te huisvesten, maar we hebben er nog niks over gehoord", aldus een woordvoerder van het circuit tegenover Speed Week.
