Dakar: Marc Coma ontbreekt vanwege schouderblessure

Marc Coma verschijnt in januari niet aan de start van Dakar 2013. De 36-jarige Spanjaard is herstellende van een schouderblessure die hij in oktober bij een rally in Marokko opliep en geraakt niet op tijd fit. Coma won Dakar in 2006, 2009 en 2011 op de motor, en vocht verbeten duels uit met KTM-teamgenoot Cyril Despres.

KTM-teammanager Alex Doringer: "Marc is een van onze belangrijkste coureurs en heeft ons samen met Cyril de afgelopen zeven jaar zeges in Dakar bezorgd. Hoewel we het teleurstellend vinden dat hij niet kan rijden, gaat de gezondheid en het welzijn van onze fabrieksrijders boven alles. Als hij niet honderd procent fit is, dan is het beter om Dakar 2013 over te slaan."

De Amerikaan Kurt Caselli neemt de honneurs waar voor Coma en scheurt vanaf 5 januari op een KTM 450 door Peru, Chili en Argentinië.
