Ecclestone hoopvol over akkoord met Nürburgring voor 2013

Bernie Ecclestone is optimistisch gestemd dat hij deze week een overeenkomst voor de Grand Prix van Duitsland voor komend seizoen af kan ronden. De locatie voor die race was lange tijd ongewis door de financiële problemen van de Nürburgring, dit jaar aan de beurt om de Formule 1 te ontvangen. Maar een oplossing lijkt nabij voor het circuit in de Duitse Eifel.

Ecclestone spreekt deze week met een afvaardiging van de Nürburgring. "De insteek is om de Grand Prix op de Nürburgring te houden en dat proberen we te bewerkstelligen. Ik praat deze dagen met ze." De Hockenheimring geldt als een eventueel alternatief.

Ecclestone vertrouwde Reuters ook toe dat het seizoen 2013 waarschijnlijk uit negentien in plaats van twintig Grands Prix bestaat. De internationale autosportbond FIA ruimde in december vorig jaar nog een plek in voor een extra race in Europa, met Turkije als belangrijkste gegadigde. De Turkse regering schaarde zich echter niet achter het evenement en veel andere opties zijn er niet.
