Lotus-eigenaar tikt handschoenen van Ayrton Senna op de kop

Gerard Lopez, baas van Lotus-eigenaar Genii Capital, heeft bij een veiling diep in de buidel getast om een paar handschoenen van wijlen Ayrton Senna te bemachtigen. Uiteindelijk telde hij 22.000 pond neer voor de handschoenen van de in 1994 verongelukte Braziliaan.

Het betreft een paar uit de McLaren-tijd van Senna, uit 1991 om precies te zijn. Jo Ramirez had de handschoenen ter beschikking gesteld. De veiling stond op het programma bij het Motor Sport Magazine Hall of Fame-evenement en de opbrengsten gaan naar een goed doel. In totaal werd 92.000 pond opgehaald voor het Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust-fonds.
